"The attacks on the family also undermine the value of life—particularly the life of the unborn. Life is being trivialized and subjected to the vacillating whims of convenience and political correctness. You will find it troubling, as I do, that between 1950 and 1997, some 46 industrialized countries and 9 developing nations legalized or removed most restrictions on abortion. Each year an estimated 46 million abortions take place worldwide. Indeed, some estimate induced abortions end one-fourth of all pregnancies. Far too many people view marriage as a “couples relationship,” designed to fulfill the emotional needs of adults rather than an institution for rearing children. Children are considered a choice rather than a blessing. About one million children per year experience parental divorce and its aftermath, and about one-third of all children in America are born out of wedlock. Almost every trend indicates that we are on a slippery slope downward from God’s plan for His children. The family, once universally hailed as the cornerstone of society, is losing its essential role." quoted from Elder M. Russll Ballard March Ensign 2006

do you ever write a list of things you have to or want to get done? do you do it to feel accomplished when you cross things off? my list is so silly, but i have this desperation building up that i HAVE to do these things: inventize my pantry, index my recipe books, do my taxes etc. are among the more seemingly useless and boring things on my list. what is the big picture? I want to be organized, for what? i am in control of my destiny and an indexed recipe book it going to proove that to the world or at least to my mother-in-law when she comes to visit/ inspect my house. i also want to save starving kids in africa but that's not on my list. I want to record a solo album, but that's not on my list either. maybe because they are impossible. so what is on your list?

i wonder what the line is between taking some time off for you sanity and being selfish? i heard that a woman has to take a total of two weeks every year away from her family or she'll go insane. i also heard that god created children' s faces to be so cute that you love them no matter what they do to you. the irony of it is, every time i do get a break from them all i do is think about how cute they are.
